My name is Melanie. I am from a small town in Virginia and have a wonderful fiance’ an 11 month old son, a 9 year old daughter, and 11 and 13 year old step daughters who I see as my own. Our little family is the center of my world. In September of 2012 we got the most devastating news parents could get, our son, 5 months old at the time, has a brain tumor. Our life as we knew it would be forever changed. By October of 2012 we were in Memphis at a children’s hospital. Hayden’s father had to return home to go back to work and take care of our other children. Not only has this journey been hard for watching my son go through all that he does on a daily basis, but it is extremely hard to be away from my family. Words cannot express the mix of emotions that I go through every single day. Hayden and I are in Jacksonville Florida at this time for him to receive proton radiation. We will be in Florida for 2 months and will come back to Memphis before we are finally able to return home. This will be a lifelong journey but is so worth every second of it. There is nothing in this world that I wouldn’t do for my kids.
